Joshua Tan

Introduction

Joshua is a corporate and commercial specialist, and is best known for his work with a wide range of startups and his sector expertise in the field of emerging technologies, including fintech, blockchain / web 3.0 technologies, deep technologies and e-commerce.

He advises early to mid-stage companies, venture capital funds, SMEs and NBFIs. A core of his practice is in equity and debt fundraisings, and corporate finance and structuring. Over the course of his practice, Joshua has advised on more than a hundred fundraises.

Joshua’s expertise extends to corporate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, employment, regulatory & compliance, and commercial arrangements across a broad suite of industries.

Joshua has from early on in his practice been regularly recognised in his field of practice across various publications such as asialaw, Chambers & Partners and IFLR1000. Joshua has also been ranked as a “Top-Rated Lawyers” in the Straits Times Best Law Firms 2025 ratings, a ranking given to the top 20 lawyers based on outstanding client recommendations.

Josh is a man of simple pleasures, but he also believes you get what you give. He loves a good drink — especially a cold beer, hard-earned after a strenuous sports game. He enjoys video games, and even more so, the satisfying triumph over a game with a punishingly steep learning curve. He loves a fun night out (particularly if it includes some karaoke), but he’s a firm believer that it’s made even better when surrounded by meaningful and enduring connections.
